A little more on Honduras
Tegucigalpa, Honduras - Sometimes, the whole world prefers a lie to the truth. The White House, the United Nations, the Organization of American States, and much of the media have condemned the ouster of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya this past weekend as a coup d'état.
That is nonsense.
In fact, what happened here is nothing short of the triumph of the rule of law.
We might be able to do anything about Somalia or North Korea or Iran or...., but Honduras had better dance to our tune and re-install the leftist president post haste, law be danged. Fellow travelers have to be protected.
Update:
Further into the article
Our Constitution takes such intent seriously. According to Article 239: "No citizen who has already served as head of the Executive Branch can be President or Vice-President. Whoever violates this law or proposes its reform [emphasis added], as well as those that support such violation directly or indirectly, will immediately cease in their functions and will be unable to hold any public office for a period of 10 years."
Coup or rule of law?

Obama is hands off
on Iran, but
stands in solidarity with Chavez and other leftist leaders on Honduras.
Well, we knew where
his sympathies lay, when ya'll voted for him

I was all ready
to read the breakdowns off the Democrats Energy Tax Plan (Cap and Trade) today. I figured the business channels, if not the regular news networks, would have had time to at least go through part of the huge bill since our politicians couldn't be bothered.
Well, it was all Jackson and Madoff today.
I figure if a breakdown of the bill comes at all it will be at the start of the Fourth of July holiday.
Sigh!
One thing to remember is, that If the bill hits us in the pocketbooks worse than what the Democrats have said....
Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won't pinch wallets, behind the scenes they've acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit $5 a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.
It doesn't matter if your pet Democrat isn't really like the rest, the D after his name gives power to Pelosi, Kennedy, et al.
26 June
Remember
regardless of how Bobby Bright (D - AL-2) votes, it is the simple fact that
he has a "D" after his name that gives power to Nancy Pelosi and crew
Is Rep John A. Boehner (R - OH).
Pulling a Mr. Smith? He's half way through the admendment

Update Nope, I went to feed my critters and came back to a vote in progress
It is hard to believe
that the US House is debating a bill that have the government intruding on almost every aspect of our lives and the MSM is treating us to wall to wall coverage of Michael Jackson's deat
OK, maybe it isn't so hard to believe.

But what happened to HMO's?
One of the most telling moments
of Obama's HealthCare Infomercial on ABC
was this
Dr. Orrin Devinsky, a neurologist at the New York University Langone Medical Center, challenged Obama: What if the president's wife and daughters got sick? Would Obama promise that they would get only the services allowed under a new government insurance plan he's proposing?
....
If "it's my family member, if it's my wife, if it's my children, if it's my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care," Obama said.
Forget what they say. Look at the way programs have evolved over the last five decades. Employer's will start dumping employees onto the government's public program with the possible exception of unions. There will be a new two tier system, A gold plated one for our betters in government and corporate offices while the rest of us will have what ever the government gives us

From Horse Feathers at Cowboythings.com,
I ordered 2's father's day gift,
a hatband.
Bad mistake.
It came in promptly and I opened the bag to check it to make sure it was the right one. It was, looked good, so I put it in a bag for 2
A couple of days later, GF was checking it before we gave it to 2 and noticed that one of the braids near the tail was frayed almost to the breaking point.
I emailed the company twice with no response. They are totally unresponsive.
I don't recommend doing business with this company. I'll put this post on my other sites to warn potential buyers

Personally,
I more or less find myself aligned with Obama on the subject of the Iranian elections.
Cleaned up that mess yet?
I believe that the Iran elections are a internal matter that doesn't need the U.S. meddling. I would love to see the Mullahs overthrown, but for our purposes, the devil you know is better than the one you don't. We wouldn't want a foreign power interfering with our elections, though
I suspect the Democrats could care less as long as the interference was to their benefit
I also think that
my vote would probably be in line with Ron Paul's
After reading
Redoubt's (Sin City) post about the Phenix City Mayor getting a nice boost in his expense account, one of my cerebral notepads reminded me that government and the government schools believe that they are are just to important to share the pain of Joe Blow who pays the bills.
This theory runs from the local governments all the way to Washington.
“While businesses across the country are cutting back, members of the House saw their own office budgets increase by an average of 7 percent between 2008 and 2009. House officials say the increase is because of — not in spite of — the nation’s economic woes.”

Are you people crazy?
You want to give more power to the Fed?
Under Obama's plan, the Fed would oversee institutions deemed so big or influential in the market that their failure could seriously damage the economy.
I tried to tell you we needed to get rid of the Fed last August, not give it more power
Anyway,
go read this article
"Anyone who would suggest that the state dispense with the role would be treated like a crazy person.
But how crazy is it? The central bank has failed in its overt mission for nearly 100 years. It has destroyed our money, funded unjust wars, given rise to a ghastly bureaucratic state, and pumped up more credit bubbles than we can count."

It looks like
Obama and the Democrats will try to insure their reelection by
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Tuesday sought to downplay the short-term expectations for healthcare reform, telling The Associated Press that the phase-in coverage plan of the legislation could spill into the next presidential term.
That would delay the publics perception of the true costs until they were safely re-elected. AND IF, Obama was voted out and the Democrats lost the House or the Senate, they can blame the Republicans for the run up in costs
Eight years of Bushisms,
but little about democrat mis-speaks.
Care to interpret this?
“I wouldn’t say it’s a complete strikeout, but they’ve just got a few more bases to it when it comes to the rural community,” said Louisiana Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu.
Want to know a little secret about healthcare?
One of the reasons there is such a great drive to make sure the young is insured is not because they, as a group, need it beyond accidents and pregnancies.
No, it's to have the money to spend on the other demographics.
Now if you want to control health costs, your bet bet is to line up 9 out of every 10 lawyers against a wall.
Have you noticed the proliferation of the ads on tv from lawyers concerning medical care?

From my
cold dead hand
On May 21, U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) proposed the revocation of four previous Ruling Letters; the effect would be a drastic expansion of the definition of non-importable knives. The organization KnifeRights warns that revocations would outlaw approximately 80 percent of the current market in knives.
Lively debate going on

Congress punts?
on tobacco products?
It would seem that by placing tobacco under the FDA, the elected ones are shielding themselves from blame on any coming regulations.
I don't know the law, but could the FDA decide that you need a doctor's prescription to buy them?
Would/could the "soon to be" government employees refuse on moral grounds?
Won't happen?
You ain't lived long enough yet.
If the federal government manages to drastically reduce use of tobacco either through price or the hurdles placed in user's way, how will the states make up the money lost on those "to important to fail" programs that are funded by tobacco taxes?
If people live longer, how will the government make up the shortfalls in SS?
How will the government deal with smugglers and those who buy on the blackmarket?
Another addition to the war on drugs?
How will the government fund the prisons and deal with the economic aspects of a new crime category?
In case you're wondering, I'm a loooong reformed former smoker.
United Nations announces tough sanctions on North Korea
It authorized U.N. member states to inspect North Korean sea, air and land cargo, requiring them to seize and destroy any goods transported in violation of the sanctions.
IF North Korea gives its permission
""The inspections regime on the open seas should be on the basis of cooperation and consent," he said, adding that if a North Korean ship refused inspection, the only recourse was to report it to the Security Council."

A vote by the majority-white Russell County School board against renewing the contract of the system’s second black superintendent has led to allegations that race played a role in the decision.
Hmmm, two black superintendents in a row, selected by a county school board that was majority black.
Do you think that race might have played a part in those selections?
And the charge of a race factor was a good political move by those remaining blacks because the pressure will be on the whites to hire another black to prove that they aren't racist.
A tale of two headlines
May U.S. foreclosures third highest on record, but Obama's plan hasn't had time to work yet according to the story. Which brings up the question, "if the housing foreclosure's runs it's course and foreclosure numbers eventually improve, will Obama get the credit even if his plan not only didn't help, but actually hurt?"
Never mind.
ABC News: A Better Month for Foreclosures, but Are Things Really Getting Better?
All this reminds me of when I was helping out a local furniture store delivering to the Atlanta area. These people were burying the cost of big screen tv's, and household furniture in their mortgages(s) and paying on them for 30 years.
And I'm supposed to want to bail them out.
In a recent email exchange with Olin Price, Revenue Commissionar of Lee County she said that
""However, Lee County is in an enviable position from most of the country in that there has not been a significant reduction in property values countywide.
Which led to my retort that all that meant was that my rent to the government would go up even though I had no intention of selling my property.
And that brings up this story
Lee Co. Revenue collections up compared to last year
“The $94 million is what we collected including real and personal property, motor vehicles and manufactured homes,” Price said. “It is up about $8 or $9 million from last year.”
Recession Bottomed?
That seems to be the tenor of the talking heads.
I've said we won't see a true recovery until the people have more money in their pocket to spend. That means lowering debt for a long term solution, not Uncle Sugar redistributing the wealth
What I'm seeing with the economy.
9.4% unemployed with less to spend.
Pay stagnant or declining
A lower valued dollar causing imports to rise in cost.
Real estate still in a crunch, though I have to tell you, I refinanced at 4.625% with no problem finding financing at all. The problem for many is bad credit and/or high debt to earnings ratio.
Grocery prices rising
Gasoline prices rising.
Uncertainty about government taxing and spending.
I just don't see how the economy could be improving

I tried to warn you people
And this is one of the reasons that I chose to flee Phenix City.
You no longer have the right to decide what kind of business you will put on your property. And it looks like the city will tell you what your business will look like.
Instead of rich and vibrant ideas, you will have vanilla bureaucrat.
Considering your lack of interest in city affairs, you deserve what you get.
Personally, I will make an effort to shop elsewhere

Is it an appropriate use of federal stimulus funds
to lure a company from one locale to another?
But thanks to what Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce recruiter Becca Hardin called “creative and aggressive” pursuit of NCR, the city just might not be on the hook for that money at all: Columbus has applied to the federal Economic Development Administration for $5.5 million in stimulus funds.
For those of you who voted for Bobby Bright (Al, 2,D)
Remember that you gave the liberal wing of the Democrats a mandate
(despite my suggestions), no matter how conservative you think your own democrat is. Bobby Bright has earned a special dislike from redneckin with
his passion for government run cameras
""There's no sense having a mandate unless you have a contribution," Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, said Monday. "
So, when this happens
".... House Democrats are considering a new tax on employer-provided health benefits to help pay for expanding coverage to the uninsured."
You have no one to blame but yourself.
And you need to keep this in mind with Josh Segall (D) running against Mike Rogers (Al, 3, R), not that I have that high an opinion of Mike Rogers. There is no telling which way he (Rogers or Segall) would end up voting though Segall helps the Democrats retain their mandate.

I wonder what would cause this?
The

My guess?
